I’m getting back up to speed after the debacle that was switching to Blogger 2. At this point my assessment of Blogger2 is that it’s a more powerful tool now and still has a bunch of shortcomings but the changeover is a big trauma. Still worth every penny.
So, the blogrolls are more or less done now. If you link to me and are not there, let me know and I’ll drop you in some category or another. I’ve done my best to categorize the linkage. A number of people wander in to blogworld from knowing me in real life. I try to make the sidebar a bit more user-friendly than a big pile o’ links to help the less blog-savvy among my friends.
I’m also gradually adding tags to archive posts. It’s slow going, partly because of my self-conscious insistence that the tags be oh so precious and clever, but mostly because Blogger2 makes it so difficult. At this point it’s just as easy to randomly find an old post and edit in a tag or two than it would be to do anything more systematic.
On a related note, my apologies to those of you with RSS readers. After appending a tag to an old post, I then have to republish it. As a result, old posts show up on readers. I’m trying to do all this late at night so people don’t stampede over here expecting new content, but I know the advantage in that is limited.
With all this work done, I'm now dealing with the itch to switch to a three-column template or change the name and URL to something less Akron-specific or move to a different platform altogether. Feel free to talk sense into me in comments.
RIP, JOHN OLESKY

You are the captain of your blog, so sail in whatever direction you choose. I like the idea of three columns. Is there a way to add a recent comments section in blogger?
