Good Morning

We are in the mountains now, and to my surprise the cabin complex has wifi. That's good. And bad.

Anyway, while working on the McCain post below, I hear Prof. W, who had gone out walking calling me through the window to come and bring my camera.

Not thirty feet from out cabin, an elk was grazing:

It was hard to get a decent picture until a magpie's screeching got his attention:

It turns out, the magpie was harassing a fox, who was slinking around and bolted once he spotted us.

Pictures and art have a lot in common. Whether we realize it or not, they both tell a story. With this in common, it is important to inform both photographers and artists about events occurring in Northeast Ohio that may interest them. The Cleveland Museum of Art will be reopening its historic 1916 building on Sunday, June 29. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome. Join museum director Timothy Rub and other community leaders at a ribbon cutting ceremony, set to begin at 10:30 a.m. at the South Terrace. Afterward, be among the first to take a tour of the galleries and see what has been renovated and added in the building. Tours will go on throughout the day, and hands-on activities will be available for all to enjoy. Visitors will see noticeable changes in the interior garden court and the central rotunda, but will be greeted by the familiar, unchanged Armor Court. Nineteen galleries exhibiting 900 works will be open. These galleries will have Western European and American art primarily from the 17th through the 20th centuries. Famous pieces such as El Greco’s The Holy Family with Mary Magdalen, William Merritt Chase’s Dora Wheeler, and Apollo and the Muses by Charles Meynier are included in these collections. Again, admission is free and is open to everyone. For more information and for regular museum hours, call 1-888-CMA-0833, or visit www.ClevelandArt.org. We look forward to seeing you at the reopening on June 29!
