Breaking: Paul Monea Guilty

Guilty on all four counts. The Stark County "entrepreneur" will no doubt be heading to prison a second time.

I've been unable to find one of those "If convicted he could face" sentences in any of the preview stories.

Monea denied wrongdoing, saying the he is a victim of government entrapment.

Monea faces up to 20 years in prison.

Judge John R. Adams is to hear whether the diamond and property are to be forfeited to the government.

I think the government acted disgracefully in this instance. It seems they wanted Paul Monea behind bars so they made up a crime they knew he would be tempted to commit. They new he was desperate to unload the property and convert it to cash. If I had a good offer on my house and was trying to sell it I don't think I would refuse to sell based on the buyer's line of business. Should every homeowner who is trying to sell have to worry about determining how the buyer got the funds to purchase?

Paul Monea is innocent - The FBI lied on the stand under oath. They misled the jury by selectively playing audio tapes to make him sound guilty. Lastly, the threatened his life and deleted those portions from the undercover audio tapes - 3 expert sound analysts provided affidavits to prove this and Judge John Adams would not allow this in court and the jury had no idea of their existence. Paul Monea is an innocent man that was setup.

Well, if anonymous blog commenters say it, it must be true.

I'll end my post with one made at 11:40am by someone earlier today, which is (like the following post) such an obvious statement of truth anyone that elected to see the truth would in fact do so by simply following this case as an observe and stranger to all involved, as well as to a fair judge and jury. I knew Paul Monea oh so well, and it's the past and ongoing deeply saddening and unfortunate events that cause me to say KNEW instead of be in the preferred present tense: KNOW. Still, though not a tie that spans years, I feel I still HAVE KNOWN the true man far better than most. Post of reference from another "ANONYMOUS" - which I haven't this second thought of a username, nor do I blog - but, I still hold this man as few that are worthy of holding in high regard. I'm both surprised as well as very happy to see SOMETHING positive about this man for an overdue period of time. So many friends fail us in times less than grand. That, Paul is where you erred here. You seem to have been sincere in asking me to depart for my own good from your life when you knew for certain how things were headed in Fall of 2003. Surely someone that knows you will see this and send it on, as I want you to eternally remember: that call was yours alone, thus: NEVER MINE.

We as a company believed at one time in Paul Monea and as a half owner among other half owners of the "Golden Eye Diamond" we are out over $550,000.00 at this point. No matter his intentions or mission in life he is a liar and for that reason alone some justice is being served. Unlike some claims our companies contribution is fully documented and we only hope in the hard economic times ahead to recoup our investment .

Well "california connection" - now, after today's deeply unfortunate results of Paul Monea Sr.'s case, we get to see what your outcome will be in this, as your words (which seemed to want to keep on rambling) did inform anyone enlightened on this case whom you are, and how...questionably -- odd...your involvement is in this, clearly for a plethora of profit plans. Cast your stones at greed, but of course, there will be quite a ricochet effect coming your way -- but, there is anyway.

they definitely did mislead the jury with bits and pieces of tape and they did threaten his family

The FBI lies in a lot of cases. Their promotions are based on convictions, and once they attempt to get their hooks into a person, they don't let go. I am not saying anyone is perfect, but Paul did not deserve what he got. Many people have suffered the same fate as Paul, because the FBI and other agencies are never questioned especially by the public, because the public immediately thinks the accused criminal is guilty long before anything is discovered. People really need to get their head out of their ass and look at what is happening in the world. Politicans play on the fears of the general public, while the FBI and other agencies thrive on people's ignorance and acting like sheep. People believe if the FBI says it, it must be true, without actually looking at what they are doing. I am ashamed of what the government gets away with.
